I have keep this page up because it was the first page I created when I moved to Rio de Janeiro.   The people and culture have shaped my reality of making business and appreciating life in Brasil.

The World Cup was a wonderful opportunity that opened the doors for thousands of foreigners.

The city of Rio de Janeiro is situated on the south-east coast of Brasil, at the inlet of Guanabara bay.  Surrounded by plush green mountains with the Christ the Redeemer statue embracing the city on one side and the aqua blue crashing waves from the warm southern Atlantic Ocean on the other.

However famous for it’s vibrating samba in the Rio Carnival celebration every February/March, which is often associated with free spirited fun and dancing until the sun rises.

AIB is here to honestly inform you on the history, opportunity and reality of Brasil.

Discovered by Portuguese explorers 10 years after the discovery of North America.

January 1st 1502 Gaspar de Limos captain on Pedro Alvarez Cabral’s fleet encountered Gaunabara Bay for the first time.  Thinking it was a river they named it Rio de Janeiro (river of January). 430 years later the name is unchanged and Rio is the unofficial capital and spirit of Brasil.

Similar to the States the capital was moved a couple times. First in Salvador Bahia for close to 200 years then after the discovery of gold and diamonds in Minas Gerais, Rio became the logical port city to export.  Making Rio de janeiro more important and thus became the capital in 1763 where it stayed for another 200 years.  Then in the 60’s politicians spent 50 billion moving the capital to the futuristic city of Brasilia for debatable reasons.

The political climate of the last 100 years has been all over the place with their currency changing many different times creating much unrest and distrust in the country’s financial system.

Though, during the past 16 years Brazil has made the right decisions and moves, now is enjoying an emergence as the much needed Rising Star in the World.

Brasil has an American history, people came here from all over world to find freedom and a better way of life.  Today this same thing is happening, I meet people everyday visiting Rio from Europe and North America amazed at the difference in reality versus what they hear.  This is the new land of opportunity and should be taken serious by all that can afford to diversify their holdings.

A short drive West down the coast, outside the hustle and bustle of downtown Rio and the Copacabana stretch there exist many great opportunities including ocean front properties.

Large sprawling condominiums with a positive economic future are abundant.
